The United States Air Force Reserve (USAFR) will be conducting an aerial spray mission over Watford City the week of August 4th – August 8th if weather and conditions allow. The public may see a large military aircraft flying at low elevations in the evening as treatments will take place near sunset.
The USAFR will be using Trumpet EC with active ingredient Naled for this adulticide treatments. Trumpet EC is approved for use in residential areas by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
At the time of publishing, there has been no public notice of West Nile Virus exposure in Watford City but there has been detection of the virus in mosquitoes.
The public should be aware that there is a risk of contracting West Nile Virus anytime mosquitoes are active. Taking extra precaution to avoid mosquito bites is important this time of year. Here’s what you can do at home:
