School Resource Officer

Department: Watford City Police Department

Position Summary: Assigned to specific school(s) to assist with maintaining a safe school environment. Provides law enforcement information and advice to students, parents, and school staff. Assists school staff with criminal issues as well as discipline and behavior issues. Works to prevent assaults, drug activity and criminal activity within the school setting and addresses criminal and nuisance complaints. SRO starting salary is $75,493/yr.

Community Service Officer

Department: Watford City Police Department 

Position Summary: The CSO is a uniform position, drives a marked Police vehicle, wears body armor and is armed with a TASER device.  The CSO is responsible for a variety of non-emergency City Code enforcement matters, including animal control, parking, special events, and other tasks that support the mission of WCPD.  Salary begins at $61,861.61 annually. WCPD is a community-policing agency in a family-oriented city with great schools, parks, and recreation opportunities.

Public Works Operator

Department: Public Works
Position Summary: Incumbents may be responsible for inspecting and performing complex operations, maintenance, and repair activities in and on Wastewater Collection System, Wastewater Treatment Facilities, Water Distribution System, Stormwater System, Roadway system, Public Works Fleet, City Facilities, or Sanitation Collection System.

Licensing Requirements: North Dakota Class B Commercial Driver's License--must obtain within probationary period

 

Police Officer

Department: Police Department
Reports To: Sergeant
Position Summary: Responsible for patrolling the streets of Watford City and enforcing laws and city ordinances.Normally consisting of providing crime prevention and repression; performing criminal investigations; performing regulation of non-criminal activity; performing routine vehicle inspection of patrol unit on each shift; performing community service activities; responding to emergency situations and assisting in rescue operations; serving as tactical entry team member; and participating in training.

Education/Experience: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (G.E.D.), or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Bachelor degree preferred. Completion of Basic Law Enforcement Academy. State Peace Officer’s License. Firearm Certification. Valid North Dakota Driver’s License. Radar Certification may be required.
